Description of projects available to graduate students:
1) characterization of novel Myc target genes;
2) identification of proteins that interact with Myc target genes; 3. Identification and characterization of novel small molecules that prevent the interaction between Myc and its obigate heterodimerization partner, Max. Since the majority of tumors over-express Myc, such agents are of great therapeutic potential

Techniques graduate student will learn:
Standard molecular biology techniques (cloning, sequencing, RT-PCR); mammalian cell cultures and transfection; confocal microscopy; biophysical techniques such as surface plasmon resonance, circular dichroism and fluorescence polarization.
