Description of projects available to graduate students: The Ambrose lab has multiple projects looking at the early infection pathways of HIV-1 in cells, particularly long-lived macrophages. One project is to measure and understand the mechanism of HIV-1 capsid core uncoating in cells. Techniques graduate student will learn: Cell culture, siRNA knockdowns, retrovirus propagation, retroviral infection/replication assays, ELISAs, real-time PCR, and fluorescence microscopy.
