The research focus of the lab is the (sex-specific) role of microRNAs in renal sodium handling. We use KO and gain-of-function mouse models with primary and engineered cell lines to investigate the hormonal regulation of microRNAs in the kidney. Findings are linked to in vivo physiologic regulation of sodium transport and blood pressure. These studies aim to uncover novel pathways to account for sex-specific differences in hypertension.
